Happy Mail

On Friday I was feeling shit not a little bit shit but true deep shit I just thought I cant do this anymore my legs hurt I am not sleeping I feel like I am turning into a drug addict with all the pills and pain killers I take so yeah I was feeling shit...

Until I got a little ray of Sunshine in my life....

My Blogging friend Shandell from  little miss scrappy sent me a lovely gift....

Oh what a surprise it was totally unexpected.

I had sent Shandell some scrabble blocks left over from my scrabble art word art I made      .I had plenty left over so I was happy to give them to her...

So today when I got this beautifully wrapped gift my heart swelled.I am using that twine and button on a scrap page I am about to do..

                                                             So what was inside ????

Shandell sent me a roll of Washi tape -I don't know how she knew I am a washi addict ...(I just got another 23 rolls last week from Anna's Craft Cupboard  in WA here the cheapest and best tape online $2.25 a roll  )this roll is magic it has colourful little cars which will be great for the LM...

I also got some  cute timber pieces for scrap booking a bird and a bird cage and a fob watch I can't wait to use these either...

Finally a beautiful beaded necklace that Shandell had made herself .I will treasure that always.

I don't usually get craft off people because I make so much but there is nothing better than getting something that a person has made with love ....

LOVE IT  ALL SO MUCH...Thanks so much Shandell you made my day when I was so upset and down by your beautiful gesture...

I hope you will check out Shandells blog and become followers of Shandell I am .....

Birthday cake and matching candle.

I did this post awhile ago but I kept forgetting to post it I wanted to show you because I thought the possibilities are unless..

We had a birthday cake for the LM's birthday when we went to hooters but on LM's  actual Birthday I made him a "freckle" cake and matching candle.....

I saw this idea on how  to decorate a candle  at Two Shades of Pink . What a great idea I thought and how easy peasy my favourite...

So this was the perfect option for me as I made the freckle cake.

All I did was buy a candle.

Paint Modge Podge  inside the candle on both sides.

Sprinkle 100's and 1000's over the candle then tap off the excess sprinkles just make sure you have some paper under the candle because I forgot and there was a mess of sprinkles everywhere....

The end result was really good and this only took around 10mins max to make.....

For the cake I made a little vanilla round cake. I think it was a 4inch round tin that I used.
When it was cool I cut the top off to make level.

I covered the cake in vanilla (pre made ) frosting.

Then I put two rows of freckles (lollies) around the side of the cake ...

Then I poured sprinkles on the top and stuck in the candle.

The cake looked happy that's if a cake can look happy but this one did....

The LM loved it as he really loves freckles cause he said they are his favourite lollies.I don't believe him because he loves all types of chocolate but hey it's his birthday and he was really pleased with his candle and cake  and that is the main thing and all that matters...

Egg Whites

I saw the following somewhere I just wish I could remember where and I thought that this was really interesting and maybe it could help some one..We all have eggs so there is nothing to buy and now we have this knowledge...

A Healing Miracle for Burns:

Keep in mind this treatment of burns is being included in teaching beginner fireman. First Aid consists of first spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced which stops the continued burning of all layers of the skin. Then, spread the egg whites onto the affected area.

One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg whites from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.

She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.

Hope it may be of interest to you and that you never need to use it..

Have a great weekend

Jaxons 1/2 Birthday,

I can't believe it my beautiful little grand son Jaxon is now 6 months old....

The time has flown by since this adorable baby graced us with his presence.

I didn't think I could love another person the way I do with Jaxon.

When he smiles at me my heart melts so god knows what it will be like when he is older ha ha ..

Kerry let me give Jaxon a little cupcake for his 1/2 birthday and we had a laugh about the way he was grabbing it trying to put it in his mouth....

He already has his personality coming through he is such a cheeky boy ,loves to suck his bottom lip in ,flares his nostrils and has a smile to die for..

I look at him and I remember his mother as a baby he is so much like her but he is also so much like Manny  it amazes me how he can have both parents looks but be so individual....Regardless he is beautiful (must get his looks from his Nana now don't laugh just look at my daughter she is stunning )

I love it when I see him and say hello that he recognizes me and smiles straight away .I am so lucky to have him in my life...

Oh well I guess it wont be long till it is this bubs 1st Birthday......

Craft for Baby Bowen....

Today I am showing some of the bits I made for our new Grandson Bowen...

Of course I made some crafty bits for Bowen but given that we didn't know whether the baby was going to be a boy or girl I had to wait till he was born to get started, also time was against me I had less than a week to get these done till we went for our visit....

But yeah I did it and they  all turned out great.

I made some of my favorites for a baby gift as I know the parents like these so for Bowen I made him...

His name sign. This is a new colour I was unsure of it at first but added a bit of white to it and it looks great.... I am also changing my style to make it clean and simple

Then I did his intital on a canvas another big favourite...

Oh course I had to make  a teddy bear frame...

And I really love these subway name prints they are so fun and easy to make and they turn out so good..I also made one for Luca and Shakira so all the kids will have one.

I also finished off a baby blanket that I had been making.. I  know it is Spring but the blanket will be good for Bowen to lay on the floor as it is so thick. This blanket turned out so great. It is made using two different types of wool and crocheting them together with a nice fat crotchet hook...

SO even though I only had a few days to make a few things I think I did OK and Mitchell and Teala really loved them...

School Art holder....

Kids school pictures love them or hate them we all get them but what do we do with them?

When the LM went to pre school I kept most of his pictures -who am I kidding I kept all of them  until I realised  I had way to many .So I sorted through them and took photos of the best ones and made a digital book with them and it is great. These ones were also kept the rest well they kind of disappeared.......

Now it is  easy to pull the book  out and LM can look at them any time he wants.

Well now he is in Kindergarten he likes to bring home different art work. Now LM isn't the type of boy who will do drawings and colourings  he like to run and play so when I do get a drawing I make a fuss and put it on the fridge with magnets to hold it in place.

I used to make signs saying "Look what I did in school today" on a long piece of wood but I wanted something different this time.

I found this plaque in Spotlight so it came home with me..

I then painted it with blackboard paint -only because I had it out or else I would have just used black paint...

When it was dry I wrote his name on it using a chalk ink pen..

I went over his name to make sure it looked good..Well I think it does...

Kevin sprayed it with clear spray and screwed the bulldog clips  on it. I glued the magnets on the back and the crayons on the front and ...LA LA DA LA  (I cant sing hey ha ha) it was done ..

PERFECT....LOVE IT...HANGING ON MY FRIDGE....

Typography Wall Art

I have a thing for letters and names being used for decoration in our home and for ages I have seen this type of  typography wall art and I love it....

I love that there is so many variations for every letter  it is endless what you can do...

Now I have tried and tried many different sites and tutorials on how to do this  and failed. Some of the sites would not let you download the letters or if they did I found it impossible to do so..

That was until the other  night.....Hip Hip Hooray !!!!! I did it .....

Now this is my first attempt at doing this and it was 11..pm so I was getting pretty tired but regardless of that  they turned out great...

Here is the site where she gives details on how to set up Microsoft Publisher (I have never used this before) to make the grid so you can add your letters to......

Full of Great Ideas  blog.  Many thanks and I followed her instructions without any problems even for a micro soft novice like me ...

Now  here is the site where the letters are available at ......Collections

Leo Reynolds  is the writer  who has made  this wonderful site and  the amount of letters is amazing, who would have thought it would be so hard to choose a letter...trust me the choosing is the hardest bit....

So all  I did was select my letter right clicked on it and selected large then I right clicked again and selected copy then hopped over to my Publisher grid and right clicked paste then I just re sized it to fit.

The above names were just printed onto some card I had to see if it worked. When I first started I just thought oh well it won't work but Wow what a pleasant surprise when it all came together.I wish I had worked it out properly (size and paper) to start with oh well you learn from your mistakes,,,

Now I have to work out the size I want to do and get my frames and go go go ....I have a picture framer who  we get our custom frames from  his  prices are so good.So I am going to order a couple of frames with matt board and make these up.I also want to do one with our last name to go in our pool room I think it will look great and as you all know I love anything with our name or initials on it...
