The old white bed

Well I have shown the guest room all finished but here is a little story about the bed....
The top photo is the bed when we bought it ...I forgot to get a picture of the foot of the bed but it was the same.....

It looked OK when I bought it on line but hey photos can lie....It was bubbling in some parts and just yuck in others.Kev said it had been done in some sort of oil paint any way no matter how it was painted it was yuck....

The bottom photo shows where Kev spent hours on it peeling off the paint and I mean literally peeling off the paint..Kev was peeling large pieces off at a time....

After all that peeling there was sanding and more sanding and hey even a little more sanding and then she was spray painted with undercoat and then she was ready .....

But we wernt......

They sat in the garage for around seven months  then we decided OK lets do it....

Here is a picture of the bed  undercoated waiting to be painted...

The bed was broken in a couple of pieces around the border but Kevin cut a bit of timber and fixed all that -gee he is clever....

I love the details on the bed....

Hey finally a photo of the foot of the bed  after I had given it a coat of chalk paint....

One coat down and I think it will need another two coats to make sure it has the coverage I want....

When it was dried we sealed it with two coats of Porters sealer which gave it a lovely finish

And here she is all done and looking very pretty...the walls wernt wallpapered here but you get the idea.

Very very happy with this bed now....

Little wooden men

I have had these little wooden block people for ages I have almost thrown them out a couple of times...

I decided to paint them up for Jaxon as the alphabet. Thinking it was a cute way to learn it...

But I didn't have enough rather than get upset about I made them into name people.....

I wanted to do them in just black and white.....

That was a mistake as the white took a couple of coats....

I think they turned out great.

I used Modge Podge to give a protective coat..

LM loves his and so does Kerry loves Jaxon...

On the alphabet front that idea has been forgotten I have ordered some more people from Etsy and I'm giving them to Kerry to paint them up however she wants...

Two days a week is what he is doing at the moment...

Kerry said he is going great .....

Kerry also sent me this picture of Jaxon riding Kerry's old rocking horse....

I have carted this horse around with me for 30 years and now it has a lovely new home with Kerry and Jaxon just where it should be....

My husband made me a vase....

I drew this picture and said to Kevin can you make me this please.....

What is it ...

Its a vase......

Oh ....and he shook his head and went outside...

He comes in later with his cute goofy smile and shows me a trial one...

That's great I said....

Oh but I need you to make one for Kerry as well please....

OH.....OK.....and walks out the room....

So two were made....

He brought me in my vase and I love it....

I picked some Jasmine from the garden as I wanted some flowers in it fast....

I love it.....

How many husbands buy their wives flowers?  lots I guess but my husband made me a vase....

Yep he made me a vase and I love him....

Crotchet Hand towels.

I love crotchet hand towels and face washers, I don't know why but I just think they look really lovely and I have been doing these items for years...

Last  week I had my regular craft lessons and the girls wanted to know how to crotchet. So I taught them to make granny squares and they picked it up really well....fast forward to this week and I still wanted to do crotchet but something different to keep them interested in it...

So hand towels and face washers came to mind.I did the above two during the lessons using Sugar n Cream  cotton which I love.I did the plain white one and the other one is variegated green although it looks like each row is a different colour.

These were so quick and easy to do and my girls loved doing theirs so it was a very productive day in the hen house....

Next week I am showing them how to read a pattern and make a coaster doing this.....

Lego in a bottle...

I get an idea into my head and like a bull in a china shop I rush out and buy everything I need to make it then when I cant do it there is only one thing to do "KEV HELP"

That's what happened with these little Lego men.I had seen them in a little bottle for $30 and thought no way I can make that.i bought some little Lego men some mini bottles I had the ball chains and thought these would make great boy gifts.

Well I couldn't get the men in the bottles....their arms got stuck ...

And that's where Kev came in.....that man has so much patience and he sat there and did it...

I wont say what he said when I gave him another seven to do ha ha ha

So now my little Lego men are all in their bottles off to their new homes .The LM loves his and I even made one for Jaxon for when his bigger as I don't think Kevin will be able to get into that position then ha ha ha

Tyler and Makayla

Just catching up about some family members who's pictures you have seen heaps but know little of them....

This is Tyler my nephew and omg he is growing up so fast like a little weed.

He is now almost finished year two so after Christmas he will be in Primary school whoo hoo !!

Kevin and I were the first people to see him after he was born as we were waiting in the waiting room..He was /is such a beautiful little man who loves his football...

He is 8 months older than the LM and they love being cousins which you can tell in the way they fight and wrestle with each other ha ha

Now this little cutie is Tyler's sister Makayla. She is almost four and goes to pre school.

She is also a chatterbox a real chatterbox. She loves Frozen but then again is there a little girl under the age of 6 who doesn't.

I wish we saw more of these kids but time and distance stops that but until we can catch up with their progress via the good old social media.

Do you feel like this? have family members that you just see via social media....

Finally finished Typography frame...

About a year ago or maybe more I saw a site while looking around on blog land for a Typography wall art which I fell in love with .I had a go at making it which you can see .here I had plans to make a few but hey even the best made plans can get lost.....

Fast forward to last night......I was just mucking around on the computer while Kevin was watching my Mighty Rabbits play (which in the end they won Yeah !!! ) oh getting back to where we were  I once again came across the website to make these wall art.

And thought come on Dee just do it then you have another unfinished craft off your list......

It wasn't hard to do just a little fiddly....

The original site I got the idea from is full of great ideas. here she has a really great tutorial on how to do it that I couldn't do as good as so please look at her blog....

The letters are from Leo Reynolds site.

The basic concept is set up your page in Publisher.....

Go to Leo's site and find and download your letters then insert the into your page and your done....

I had my frame all ready made months ago  so I had my matt board cut out to suit ....I did my letters in neutral tones as it will match the walls better...

Then just print it out and put in a frame and your done...

I am one very happy lady....

Sorry but I just wanted to show it off again.....xxx

Health Update....

This post is going to bore  lot of you so if your not interested in medical crap (I'm not ha ha ) just skip it thanks...xxx

The Great Leg Nightmare is still going....

I have had lots of friends wanting to know the latest so here it is....pass me the tissues before  I go to much further...

My legs are still a mess.I am still getting infections and I have been on the strongest antibiotic for about five-six years when it gets infected I can tell due the the soreness how red it is and hot and the smell so then I just up the antibiotics for a couple of days and it settles back down and I keep taking two a day...till it flares up again...

Recently I had an appointment with my Immunologist. What a waste of time.Well most of it was .My Mixed Connective tissue Disease is there but nothing touch wood has changed or developed there...

I had blood tests done before I went so I could show him and it would save some time..in waiting for the results and coming back to discuss them. Well it seems my kidneys have settled down and we don't have to worry there. My heart is OK but that's cause I am being good and taking medication.

Now my legs are another problem. There is something in my immune system that wont let me heal so that's basically why the ulcers are getting bigger and worse.I still have exposed tendons and the biggest wound on my leg is as big if not bigger than my hand and it is starting to go around my calf not long I reckon and it will join up.The smallest which is on the same leg back on the top of my foot near my toes is about 8cms wide by 15 cm long.I have had this one for about six years and it has got smaller it is the one that they thought they would have to amputate my foot because of well cross fingers it is slow but it is getting smaller. The one on my left foot is twice that size it was really deep which was a concern but is getting shallower.

So I keep dressing my legs every second day taking all the old yuck bandages and bits off clean them up and re wrap them so I can take them off in two days....

Back to the Professor though because I am so anemic I have had had iron infusions a few times and last year I had a blood transfusion well my doctor has decided that every three months I need to have and iron infusion at the hospital Great.

My mum asked him about the possibilities of Stem cell. But because of my heart NO it will kill me as they have to reduce my immune system down to nothing and like I said he said NO it will kill me so cross that off.

He may have an idea as they are doing tests into transferring antibodies from another person into me but at this stage it is still a trial and he needs to get permission to try it on me so he is going to see what he can do...

So that's it at the moment everyday is bad but some days are worse so I just take it one step at a time...

Thanks though for all your warmest wishes they do help me greatly knowing I'm not alone

Guest bedroom redo

Warning this post may effect your eyes as it is photo heavy proceed with caution ha ha

Our guest room is finally finish YEAH!!!!

It has taken a while to do ,Ashley lived in there then Kerry stayed with us for a year so now the kids are gone it was time to decorate and make it guest ready.

When Kerry moved out she left her queen bed here and while it was great I wanted a double bed to give more room around the bed .....

My grand plan was to have the room white walls ,carpet, new wardrobe doors and a wallpapered featured wall oh and did I forget to tell you we had to paint the bed head and foot ,paint the bedside tables and the side table no problem easy hey.....

We emptied the room and I got to work painting in the room which was easy as I could just close the door when I had had enough...

The furniture in different stages...

The offending doors that were  on my hit list....

Almost finished but as my mum was coming for the LM's birthday I had to make do,the only thing that wasn't done for her visit was the doors on the wardrobe (they were glassand being replaced  urkk) and the wallpaper hadn't arrived.

Oh we better hang the blinds back up for mum...

I made these vintage doiley hoops  cheap and easy but they look great...

Finally new doors Love them.... the three prints are from Kmart...

Yes the wallpaper arrived from Germany now while I like this I wish it wasn't so beige. But that's what you get from ordering it online from a tiny sample.

Kev started the wallpaper one Sunday morning it was his first time at hanging it but he said "he had watched his mum do it heaps" Great get me worried but no it turned out great....Kev did a fantastic job..

So there is only a couple of minor things to change and then the room is complete, one thing I want to do is paint the bedside table handles white..

Another is to put some sheer curtains up on this window but not too sure....

So thanks for looking at our guest room I am Sooooooo glad it is finally done...

ps I hope your eyes didn't hurt too much at all the pictures......
